In this evocative work, Emma’s muse becomes one with her intricate photo-collage background — a seamless union of body and environment.
Each composition begins with Emma creating the backdrop, in this case, a collage of three sentimental travel photographs. The piece is then mounted on a wall, where the model poses before it. Over the course of 10 hours of body painting and photography, Emma meticulously hand-paints the model to merge perfectly with the artwork — guided solely by her eye and camera’s perspective.
No stencils or projections are ever used. The final photograph captures this living installation — a fleeting harmony between human form and landscape.
EMMA HACK’s 2018 series, COLLAGE, reimagines layers of personal iPhone photographs from her travels as luminous photographic body artworks.
Drawing on nature and memory, Emma transforms unseen digital moments into fresh, dreamlike landscapes rich in texture and emotion.
Her signature technique returns — models blend seamlessly into their environments, revealing subtle glimpses of pattern or skin.
Playful yet contemplative, COLLAGE invites reflection on the thousands of images we store and forget. What meaning do they hold if never printed — and how might we better treasure these fleeting moments?

Framing ideas
I recommend taking your artwork straight to the framer, the artwork is wrapped in acid free tissue paper which will prevent the paper from discolouration, however it's not a permanent storage solution. I usually frame in a white box frame, float mounting the archival photo rag. There are many options for framing so please discuss this with your framer for options that suit you and your home.
Adelaide based framer Elite Framers will frame your artwork in my suggested float mounted frame in white at $260. Please email Cameron Smith with your order number to arrange directly: elitepictureframing@hotmail.com
